OSB & CDX Panels: The decision to use OSB or CDX can change from user to user. Among other things, a user’s preference can depend on the current market (which panel is lower in cost at any given time), the visual look they’re after (CDX is aesthetically more pleasing than OSB), or what required by their end users. Both panel types are Heat Treat exempt, as they are manufactured products that contain glues & resins, so there is no chance of bug, insect, mold, etc. development.

There are many similarities between OSB & CDX from a strength perspective as well as overall performance and durability.
CDX Plywood Panels

- CDX is simply an abbreviation to explain that there’s a C-Grade side (the better side), and a D-Grade side, which will have more visual imperfections.
- There are many steps in manufacturing CDX Plywood to ensure it’s strength and aesthetically appealing look. It’s a good choice for exterior applications & construction. Resistance to Moisture: CDX plywood is very resistant to humidity & moisture, and can withstand the elements very well.
